Bang Bang Manifesto
.
CREATE A DREAM TO MANIFEST
The BANG BANG Manifesto was held to celebrate the final month of artist Katja Loher’s residence in Brooklyn, New York, where she has lived and worked for the past 15 years. It took place throughout the month of April 2019, in Katja’s colorful Jungle Loft that showcased her profoundly vibrating artwork.
The BB Manifesto represents free time and space for powerful, meaningful creation. It springs forth with creativity and collaboration.
The colors of the rainbow serve as the blueprint for the programming and events created for this Manifesto.
The color concept links to the elements, taste, scent, rhythm and shapes. It spans from art installations, performances, concerts, science, meals, conferences, panel discussions, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, breathwork and fashion.
The creations and productions for these happenings, exhibitions and events are as sustainable as possible. No use of plastic, relying on as much reused, repurposed and recyclable materials.
The BB Manifesto stands for a perfect cycle, from creation to completion.

A visual performance created by Madhura Phatak in collaboration with Sundeep Bali Skype presentation. Due long visa process time they can't be present in person. Madhura, a classical trained dancer in the art of story-telling, narrates her take on the way mankind is polluting the planet earth and making it unliveable by the day. She delves in Hindu mythology and reinterprets it afresh. Lens-based artist Sundeep Bali who will employ visual materials to the production, bringing in sync the story-telling with the reality of today, joins her in this endeavour. Sundeep says: “ …The current state of our rivers – Ganga and Yamuna – are grim visual reminders of how wantonly we are polluting our environment with indiscriminate use and littering everywhere. …”. Madhura adds: “It disturbs me to see tons of plastic strewn on mountain sides, in valleys. Where are we taking nature to? And if not now, when will we act? My language is performance and story-telling. That is where I look for my answers and inspiration.”

BANG BANG MANIFESTO Closing Ceremony
May 1, 2019
7:30 -10:00pm, Ceremony starts at 8pm sharp
Guided by Cheryl Silva
This special closing ceremony honors the end of the BANG BANG Manifesto and artist Katja Loher’s 14 year residence in the Jungle Loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We gather to express our gratitudes, blessings and prayers with a despacho.
The despacho is a gift — a giving back of what we receive everyday in our lives. We seek, through the despacho ceremony, to bridge the ordinary and non-ordinary realms; to establish new patterns of relationships and possibilities.
The creation of an “Ayni Despacho” is like a large Mandala where participants gather sacred objects placed upon a white piece of paper that acts as a wrapping for the gift to mother earth.
With the Bang Bang Manifesto we have been treating our engagement with the ecological concerns of our planet, treating themes such endangered flora and fauna, air pollution, waste management, climate change and the fundamentally unsustainable relationship between man and nature. With our happening, events and exhibitions, we seek to sensitize participants and viewers to the beauty but also the vulnerability of Nature.
The BANG BANG Manifesto continues in various places around our world, it is our own country. This is just the beginning of a wonderful movement. You are invited to participate in this collaborative and sustainable Manifesto based on art, creativity and empathy.
